Great to meet you!

I’m a licensed counselor in Texas and Florida with over 19 years of experience, specializing in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and Texas legal issues. I have a Master's degree in Professional Counseling and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, with a minor in Criminal Justice. I have extensive experience working with individuals involved in the legal system, specifically those who are incarcerated, but my practice is open to anyone seeking support. I also provide support to the families of first responders and incarcerated individuals, as well as professionals in high-stress roles: such as law enforcement, correctional officers, attorneys, and first responders. I spent 19+ years as the sole mental health provider in several county jails, so I understand what it is like to work in a traumatic, unpredictable, stressful, and sometimes dangerous environment.

My approach to therapy

I believe that therapy should be a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can completely be yourself, and I tailor each session to your unique needs. I do not use a bunch of "psychobabble" during sessions or talk down to clients. I encourage humor and laughter and am not offended by much of anything. I want clients to look forward to sessions and not dread rigid overly structured sessions.

What you can expect from me

It is completely normal to feel anxious or apprehensive before starting therapy. Our first session is an opportunity for me to gather information to learn about your current struggles and a little bit of life history so I can better understand your needs. We will discuss what brought you to therapy and your goals, and determine if I am a good fit for you. You will have the opportunity to ask me as many questions as you need to. It is very important to me that you feel safe, comfortable, and supported. You will not be forced to talk about anything that you are not ready to talk about. Please call or email me if you would like to schedule a free 15 minute consultation or to book an appointment. 469-297-7500 [email protected].
