Eating Disorders

Great to meet you!

I've been where you are. Lost. Maybe alone. Maybe searching. Maybe confused. Maybe just wanting to be heard, seen, or noticed. While we each have our own unique journey, we share common stories. We share feelings- hurt, sadness, anger, loneliness, shame, guilt, and joy. We share the desire to tell our story and be heard, even comforted, and to maybe learn that we aren't alone out there. Living in a cycle of shame, or fear, steals our joy for life and leads us feeling isolated and alone. You are not alone.

Did you grow up thinking something was wrong with you? Did you try and get away only to find that no matter how far away you got you kept taking yourself with you? Did you do anything you could to try and make it stop? Change your body? Scrutinize every thing you did? Only to end up with yourself at the end of the day wondering if you would ever escape yourself?

What if someone told you that there was nothing wrong with you in the first place. You learned to mask. You learned to detach. You learned how to fawn, people please, and shut down to escape.

A bit about my approach to therapy

If I had known all of the things I was going to lose during my eating disorder, I might not have been so quick to sign up. It's what has led me to be passionate about helping people move through their own eating disorder battles. I have over 20 years of experience helping others fight the battle. You can heal. Let me help you find the tools you need.

Maybe your drug of choice wasn't an eating disorder, maybe it was some other form of perfectionism, some other form of control to push away feelings you were never taught how to deal with. There is a starter kit. If you didn't get it, I can help!

What you can expect from our first session

It can be scary to get help. It can be scary to feel alone. I want to join with you on the journey and be your guide. We will respect resistance together and explore how your eating disorder has helped you and what parts of it you may not need to carry with you anymore.
