Abby Poole

My name is Abby and I am an LICSW which means I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I got my undergraduate degree in social work at Auburn University and I got my masters degree in social work at UAB. I work during the day as a social worker at Childrens Hospital and during my evenings and weekends I provide counseling to anyone seeking these specific hours. My goal is to provide support to anyone seeking counseling during a hard season, life transition, or to cope with tough relationships. Those are some of the specific areas I am an expert in but I am happy to work with anyone seeking healing.

My approach to therapy is to provide a welcoming environment that meets all my clients where they are at that day for their session. The hour that I have with my clients is theirs. The goal of the session is to provide a safe space for healing.

The first session will be an opportunity for the client to tell me a little about themself. They can share as much or as little as they feel comfortable at the time about what brought them to therapy. I understand that some people seek therapy because they do not know how to explain how they are feeling so my goal is to help understand those emotions. The first session will be light and easy and nothing to be nervous about. I am just excited you have taken the first step towards healing!
