Great to meet you!

I am a husband, a father, a Navy and police veteran, and a licensed clinical social worker offering individual and family counseling to adolescents, adults, couples, male and female of all ages, experiencing an array of crises and afflictions, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, personality disorders, autism, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, relational/marital struggles. I experience great compassion, empathy, and objectivity with my clients. I have also been a born-again Christian since the age of 14. Of course, clients of all sorts of religious and secular backgrounds are more than welcome, but for those who seek it, I am prepared to offer Christian-based counseling as well as prayers for my clients.

My approach to therapy

My time in the military and public service revealed to me how much I love helping people on a personal level. My personal social work philosophy is that we are all simply human beings living our lives in constant reaction to our experiences and our environments. I take psychoanalytic and psychodynamic approaches with my clients with a focus on the most proven treatment modalities of motivational interviewing, cognitive restructuring, and mindfulness.

What you can expect from me

Any first appointment with me will begin with a warm greeting and a proper, respectful introduction. We will sit down and get to know each other at your pace; whatever you are comfortable sharing in the first or any subsequent session with no insistence. You will be assured and properly educated of my powers of confidentiality. Your present and future stages of readiness for change will always be respected and never criticized. It will be your empowered therapeutic process; you and I working together as I attempt to guide us through conversation toward insight and self-knowledge.
