Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Afolake Lawoyin, LCSW, a trauma-informed clinician committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, heal from difficult experiences, and create meaningful change.

I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Western Michigan University and previously earned my law degree in 2003, with experience in advocacy for individuals on the autism spectrum. With six years of clinical experience, I work with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, stress, and life transitions.

My approach is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and empowered while developing practical tools for healing, growth, and overall well-being. I believe therapy is a collaborative journey, and I’m honored to support you along the way.

My approach to therapy

As a trauma-informed therapist, I provide a compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe, heard, and empowered. I tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs, experiences, and goals while working at a pace that feels comfortable.

I incorporate evidence-based approaches, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Family Therapy. My areas of focus include trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, grief, family and relationship concerns, self-esteem, and life transitions.

Together, we’ll build practical coping skills, explore patterns that may be affecting your well-being, strengthen relationships, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

During your first session, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable sharing what brings you to therapy. We’ll discuss your concerns, strengths, goals, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process.

Together, we’ll begin identifying priorities for treatment and developing an individualized plan that feels realistic and supportive. My goal is for you to leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the path forward.
