Great to meet you!

Hello, I am Aisha Holmes Thorn, MA, LPC-S, NCC, a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Master's in School Counseling, a Licensed Professional Counselor, a certified Counselor Supervisor, and a National Certified Counselor. I am easy-going, kind, and compassionate. I want you to feel safe and supported in your therapy journey.

My approach to therapy

I believe that each person is the expert of their life. I also think that at times we all need an objective person to listen and to help us find our center. I strive to meet each person where they are, without judgment or preconceived ideas. I believe that counseling is not about labeling problems; it is about developing coping skills, gaining self-awareness, and self-understanding. Together, we discover your strengths and work towards a more fulfilling life.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we will get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust and understanding. I’ll ask questions about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and a bit about your background and experiences. This helps me get a clear picture of what’s been happening and how I can best support you. We’ll also discuss what you hope to achieve through therapy and explore the approaches that might be best suited for you. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable—there’s no pressure to have everything figured out. I’ll explain how sessions typically work, discuss confidentiality, and answer any questions you may have about the process. By the end of our first meeting, I hope you’ll leave with a better sense of what therapy with me entails and some initial clarity about where we can begin.
