Great to meet you!

I’m Alan Romano, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over a decade of experience helping individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I believe that many of the struggles we experience are understandable responses to life experiences rather than signs that something is inherently wrong with us.

I earned my Master of Social Work from Florida Atlantic University and later completed training in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness-based practices, psychodynamic principles, and attachment theory. Rather than following a single model, I tailor therapy to each person's unique needs, experiences, and goals.

In therapy, we'll work together to understand not only what is happening in your life today, but also how your experiences, relationships, and nervous system have shaped the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My goal is to help you build insight, strengthen resilience, and develop practical skills that support meaningful, lasting change.

Whether you're navigating trauma, addiction, grief, burnout, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, I strive to provide a compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported throughout the healing process.

My approach to therapy

I believe effective therapy begins with understanding, not judgment. Rather than focusing only on reducing symptoms, I work with clients to understand the experiences, relationships, and patterns that have shaped the way they think, feel, and respond to life's challenges. Together, we identify what may be keeping you stuck while building on the strengths and resilience you already possess.

My approach is collaborative, practical, and individualized. Depending on your needs, I may incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness, psychodynamic therapy, and attachment-based approaches. I don't believe there is one therapy that works for everyone, so I tailor treatment to fit each person's goals and circumstances.

I have extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, and life transitions, but I also enjoy helping people who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Whether you're seeking short-term support or deeper personal growth, my goal is to provide a space where you feel safe, challenged, and supported as we work toward meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation for our work together. While we'll gather information about what brings you to therapy, my focus is not simply on completing an assessment. My priority is developing an attuned understanding of who you are, what you've experienced, and what matters most to you.

You can expect me to approach our conversation with curiosity rather than judgment. I believe that every person's story makes sense within the context of their life experiences, and I strive to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and understood without pressure to have everything figured out.

Together, we'll begin identifying your goals, explore the challenges you're facing, and discuss what you hope to gain from therapy. By the end of our first session, my hope is that you'll leave feeling more understood, with a clearer sense of where we're headed and confidence that we can work collaboratively toward meaningful change.
