Great to meet you!

I am Alannah Bihl, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over 6 years of experience supporting clients from diverse cultures. I specialize in working with individuals navigating trauma, chronic illness, LGBTQIA+ issues, and neurodivergence. I am passionate about empowering clients to be their most authentic selves by encouraging self-advocacy, building resilience, fostering strengths, and cultivating their narratives.

As a queer, autistic, chronically ill, Appalachian counselor, I bring a deeply personal understanding of navigating diverse challenges into my practice. My journey has provided me with insight into the complexities of intersectionality and deepened my commitment to creating an inclusive, empathetic environment where clients feel seen, understood, and supported. I am dedicated to helping clients find their path to healing and self-acceptance.

My approach to therapy

I utilize an eclectic approach rooted in feminist theory to foster collaboration in the therapeutic process and emphasize that the client is the expert in their own life. I integrate techniques from solution-focused, narrative, cognitive behavioral, and reality therapies to meet each client's unique needs. I believe healing is a deeply personal and nonlinear process, and that there is no right way to feel or progress. My goal is to support clients in honoring their own pace, giving themselves grace, and feeling empowered throughout their healing journey.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will begin with an intake process, which involves gathering some background information to better understand your unique situation, needs, and goals. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, any challenges you’re facing, and your personal history. My main goal during our first session is to establish a sense of safety and connection and create an open, supportive space where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings.

I value openness, authenticity, and collaboration, and I believe in empowering clients to take an active role in their healing journey. Your first session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share any specific needs or preferences, and get a sense of whether our work together feels right for you. I’m here to support you every step of the way, and I want you to feel comfortable, heard, and respected from the very beginning.
