Great to meet you!

I’m Alban Lesne, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Palo Alto University and have completed psychoanalytic training through the William Alanson White Institute; I’m continuing my studies at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis. I support people working through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, identity, and recovery. My practice is culturally responsive and affirming, with a particular interest in supporting BIPOC clients and people navigating demanding careers in technology and finance.

My approach to therapy

My approach is integrative and relational, bringing psychoanalytic and psychodynamic exploration together with existential reflection, trauma-informed care, and practical tools from CBT, DBT, and strengths-based therapy. We can explore how earlier relationships, culture, and recurring patterns shape what you feel and do today, while also building concrete ways to manage anxiety, mood, boundaries, and emotional overwhelm. I’m interested in the deeper questions, too: how you make meaning, live with uncertainty, understand your identity, and create more authentic connections. I offer warmth, curiosity, and honest reflection, and we’ll shape the work together so it feels both meaningful and useful in your daily life.

What you can expect from me

Your first session isn’t a test, and you don’t need to arrive with the perfect words or a plan. We’ll start with what feels most important to you, whether that’s a specific challenge or simply the sense that something needs to change. I’ll listen, ask thoughtful questions, and help us begin to understand the experiences and patterns you want to explore; you’re welcome to ask me questions, too. We’ll talk about what you hope to get from therapy and what working together might look like, so you can leave with a clearer sense of whether this feels like the right fit.
