Great to meet you!

I hope to be able to provide a space where you feel safe enough to be vulnerable and authentic. A place where you are able to openly trace the past that got you here and explore your intentions for the future. I want to create a relationship where we can be honest with each other.

I am going to ask a lot of questions. I am curious about who you are and what you want (and what gets in the way of that). Your distinctive experience deserves attention that explores possibilities and strategies that align with your uniqueness.

The work together will most likely have challenging times. The idea is to create change and even the good changes come with the discomfort of newness or intimidation of stretching possibilities. But we’ll also have some laughs because the hard stuff isn’t tolerable without some good times.

My approach to therapy

I work primarily from a Narrative Therapy stance. I am drawn to people’s stories and the language of those stories. The tales we tell ourselves (or that were told to us) and the memories that we most connect to are connected by themes and meanings that hold a significant level of influence. I aim to help people move away from stories that have negative meaning or that may not align with their values towards stories that highlight their capabilities, values, and hopes. In addition, I utilize techniques from CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Polyvagal Theory. I have also completed training as a Gottman Institute Bringing Baby Home facilitator, using those principles to support new parents build the connections they want to have with their child and each other.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be a place to establish what is important to you and what you're hoping to get out of the therapy process. Will explore what is bringing up the need to find support at this time while starting to look the history and current environment that has created that need
