Great to meet you!

Have you ever struggled to express your emotions in the heat of the moment, communicate your boundaries, or understand what your boundaries even are? You’re not alone, and I’d be honored to support you. Hi! I’m Aleeah Muhammad Washington, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Georgia. I offer a warm, collaborative space to slow down, better understand yourself and your relationships, and develop healthier ways of communicating and responding. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating relationship challenges, emotional expression, boundaries, and life transitions. You don’t have to have everything figured out—we can start right where you are.

My approach to therapy

I know therapy can be scary at first, and you may fear being judged during your first session. I want you to know that I strive to be one of the most attentive and nonjudgmental people you could encounter. As a human being with flaws of my own, I know that it isn’t helpful to be criticized or ridiculed for doing what you believe is best for yourself.

I am very collaborative, client-centered, and warm in my approach to therapy. My goal is to help you feel comfortable through humor, insightfulness, and compassion as we talk about the struggles you’re experiencing. I want you to know that seeking help after trying everything you could before turning to therapy is a valiant effort to better your situation—not a failure.

I am proud of you for taking this step and trusting me during this season of your life as you find the support you need in therapy. My hope is that you feel safe enough to be honest, comfortable enough to be yourself, and supported as we work together toward the changes you want to make.

What you can expect from me

I want your first session to feel less like an interview and more like the beginning of a genuine conversation. We’ll spend some time getting to know one another, talking about what brought you to therapy, and discussing what you hope to gain from the experience. I’ll ask questions to better understand you, your experiences, your relationships, and the challenges you’re currently facing.

You can expect me to listen without judgment and give you space to share at your own pace. You don’t have to come into our first session knowing exactly what to say or having everything figured out. If you’re nervous, that’s okay too—we can talk about that!

I also want you to have the opportunity to get to know me and decide whether I feel like the right fit for you. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I believe feeling comfortable with your therapist is an important part of that process. My hope is that by the end of our first session, you feel heard, respected, and a little more comfortable taking the next step.
