Great to meet you!

I'm Ali Cortes, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and teens with their mental health. Hablo Español.

My approach to therapy

My work is client-centered, culturally rooted, and trauma-informed — meaning I meet you where you are, honor where you come from, and walk alongside you as you heal. I draw from many therapeutic modalities, tailoring my approach to fit your unique story and needs.

I believe healing is not just personal — it's generational. When you heal, your family heals. Your community heals.

I work with clients via telehealth, offering flexible, accessible care from wherever you are.

What you can expect from me

Taking that first step toward therapy is an act of courage — and I want you to feel welcomed from the moment we connect.

Before we begin: I offer a free 15-minute consultation where you can share a little about what's bringing you to therapy, ask any questions you have, and get a feel for whether we're a good fit. There's no pressure — this time is simply for you.

Your first session (60 minutes) is about creating a foundation of safety and trust. You won't be rushed, and you won't be expected to have everything figured out. I'll gently guide our conversation, but you lead the way — sharing only what feels right for you in that moment.

Together we will:

  • Explore what's bringing you in and what you're hoping to heal or shift
  • Begin to identify your goals and what meaningful progress looks like for you
  • Talk through how we'll work together in a way that honors your story, your culture, and your pace

For couples, the first session is a space for both partners to feel heard — not judged. We'll begin to understand the relationship dynamic and what each of you is longing for.

For teens, I make it a priority to create a relaxed, judgment-free space where they feel comfortable opening up — at their own speed.

By the end of our first session, my goal is simple: that you leave feeling seen, respected, and hopeful.
