Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Alejandra Zamora, a Clinical Psychologist licensed in New Hampshire and New York. I provide outpatient mental health services to young adults, adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults, with a focus on delivering evidence-based, culturally responsive psychological care.

I earned my Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in 2023. My clinical training includes an internship at the White River Junction VA Medical Center, where I gained experience in providing psychological services within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting. I also completed additional clinical experience in academic and outpatient mental health environments.

I have been practicing in clinical psychology since completing my doctoral training, and I currently provide services through Behr Psychology PLLC in New York, as well as through my private practice in New Hampshire. My work includes both in-person and telehealth psychotherapy sessions, allowing me to support patients in a flexible and accessible way.

My clinical interests include working with diverse adult populations, including individuals from varied gender identities and sexual orientations, as well as military veterans. I am committed to providing thoughtful, individualized care that respects each client’s background and needs.

I provide therapy in both English and Spanish-speaking contexts as needed, and I strive to create a supportive, collaborative therapeutic environment grounded in clinical rigor and cultural sensitivity.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, structured, and grounded in evidence-based clinical practice. I work with clients to understand their presenting concerns within the broader context of their life history, relationships, and current stressors, with an emphasis on developing insight as well as practical coping strategies.

I tailor treatment to each individual, drawing from established psychological frameworks to support emotional regulation, symptom reduction, and improved functioning. My clinical style is attentive and goal-oriented, while still allowing space for clients to explore their experiences at a pace that feels appropriate for them.

I place strong value on cultural responsiveness and work to ensure that therapy is respectful of each client’s identity, including gender identity, sexual orientation, and cultural background. I also have experience working with a wide range of adult populations, including young adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults, as well as military veterans.

In addition to in-person care, I provide telehealth services when appropriate, allowing for continuity and accessibility of treatment. My overall focus is on helping clients build sustainable skills, increase self-understanding, and make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, my priority is to create a structured, supportive, and comfortable space where you can begin sharing what brings you to therapy at a pace that feels manageable for you.

We typically start with a conversation about what’s currently going on, what led you to seek therapy, and what you hope to get out of treatment. I will also ask questions about relevant personal, medical, and mental health history to better understand your background and the context of your concerns. This helps me begin forming a clinical picture and identifying areas that may be important to focus on moving forward.

The first session also serves as an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work and whether the therapeutic fit feels right for you. I aim to provide a collaborative environment where questions are welcome and where we can begin clarifying goals for therapy together.

By the end of the initial session, we typically outline preliminary treatment goals and discuss a general direction for therapy, while leaving room for those goals to evolve as we continue working together. My focus is on ensuring that the process feels thoughtful, organized, and responsive to your needs from the very beginning.
