Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Dr. Alejandro Leon, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Board Certified in Neurofeedback (BCN), and an International Medical Graduate (MD). I am dedicated to helping individuals improve their emotional well-being, strengthen resilience, and achieve meaningful personal growth.

My clinical experience includes working with adults, adolescents, and families facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, substance use disorders, mood disorders, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and stress-related concerns. I have extensive experience supporting individuals in recovery and helping clients develop practical skills to improve emotional regulation, decision-making, and overall quality of life.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and goal-oriented. I integrate evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, motivational interviewing, emotional regulation strategies, trauma-informed care, and neurofeedback when appropriate. I believe that each client has unique strengths, and therapy should be tailored to their individual needs, values, and goals.

My goal is to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make lasting positive changes. Whether you are seeking support for emotional challenges, recovery, personal growth, or improved relationships, I look forward to working with you on your journey toward greater stability, wellness, and fulfillment.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, evidence-based, and tailored to each client's unique needs and goals. I believe that effective therapy involves creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore challenges, develop insight, and build practical skills for lasting change.

I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based interventions, emotional regulation techniques, trauma-informed care, and solution-focused strategies. My work emphasizes helping clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, improve coping skills, strengthen resilience, and develop healthier responses to stress and life's challenges.

I specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, substance use and recovery-related concerns, mood disorders, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and emotional dysregulation. As a Board Certified Neurofeedback provider, I also incorporate neurofeedback when appropriate to support emotional regulation, attention, stress management, and overall brain health.

My therapeutic style is empathetic, direct, and goal-oriented. I work closely with clients to establish clear treatment goals, monitor progress, and develop practical strategies that can be applied in daily life. I believe that meaningful change occurs when clients gain both insight into their experiences and the tools needed to move forward with confidence.

My goal is to help clients build emotional stability, improve relationships, strengthen self-awareness, and create a healthier and more fulfilling life. Whether a client is seeking support for recovery, mental health concerns, personal growth, or major life transitions, I strive to provide guidance, encouragement, and evidence-based interventions that promote lasting positive outcomes.

What you can expect from me

During the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they have the opportunity to share their concerns, personal history, and goals for treatment at a pace that feels comfortable for them. My priority is to understand the challenges that brought them to therapy while also identifying their strengths, support systems, and personal resources.

The initial session is focused on getting to know the client as a whole person, not just the symptoms they may be experiencing. We will discuss current concerns, relevant life experiences, emotional and behavioral patterns, coping strategies, and any previous treatment experiences. Together, we will begin identifying priorities and developing a clear understanding of what the client hopes to achieve through therapy.

Clients can expect a collaborative approach where their input and perspective are valued throughout the process. By the end of the first session, we typically establish initial treatment goals and identify practical areas of focus that can guide future sessions. Depending on the client's needs, we may also discuss immediate coping strategies, emotional regulation techniques, stress management tools, or other interventions that can provide support between sessions.

My goal is for clients to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the therapeutic process. I strive to create an atmosphere of trust, respect, and collaboration where clients feel comfortable exploring challenges, building self-awareness, and working toward meaningful and lasting change.
