Great to meet you!
Hi, I'm Dr. Aleksey Sharipov, a licensed clinical psychologist (CA PSY 29881) and Qualified Medical Examiner with over 8 years of experience. I earned my PsyD and Master's in Clinical Psychology from the Professional School of Psychology in Sacramento, and I also hold a Master's degree in Russian Linguistics and Literature—a background that shaped how deeply I value language, story, and human connection.
My career has taken me from warm private practice in Davis and Carmichael to high-security psychiatric units at the California Health Care Facility. Working across such different worlds has taught me that no two people heal the same way—so I tailor my approach to you. I draw from the insights of psychodynamic thinkers to explore the deeper patterns and unconscious motivations beneath the surface, from interpersonal theory to understand how your relationships shape you, and from the science of cognitive behavioral research to help you shift the thoughts and attitudes that hold you back. I weave in mindfulness-based practices as well, because lasting change happens when we attend to both the mind and the body.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: therapy works best when you feel truly seen. My goal is to help you feel less alone and overwhelmed by the challenges life can present—whether that's anxiety, sadness, apathy, anger, relationship conflict, or something harder to name. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can safely explore your innermost thoughts and feelings, and where we build a trusting relationship that becomes the foundation for real change. Together, we'll identify where your current struggles come from, honor the coping tools that once served you, and add new, healthier ones that fit the person you're becoming.
The decision to begin therapy takes courage—and I'd be honored to take that journey with you.
