Great to meet you!

I am a Christian who celebrates life with my wonderful wife of 30+ years and 5 children. I have a love for people and want to walk with them on their journey to healing.

As a counselor, I recognize people are affected biologically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually by the world around them. I walk beside each of my clients organically to allow them to process in their own specific manner and timing. My counseling expertise has grown in areas of trauma, sexual issues, anxiety and depression.

As a pastor, I have expertise with teens and children coupled with pastoral training in pre-marital and sustained marriage counseling. I know that a person is not separate from their family, and, therefore, as a counselor, I maintain a strong family systems focus.

Since my childhood, I have been passionate to help people. In my thirty+ years of church service, I have cared for people of all ages while focusing on children and teens. My love for children compelled me to build into couples as parents and as spouses. It was this work with families that convinced me of the need for further education to better counsel with those in crisis.

In order to fully attend to the hurt I was witnessing, I sought training from the Biblical Counseling department of Dallas Theological Seminary in Houston. However, it soon became obvious that God had a greater use for this education beyond the church walls.

As an individual, I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my family.

I am a lover of sports and enjoy cooking.

My approach to therapy

ABOUT RESTORATION THERAPY

Restoration Therapy (RT) is a new approach to assessment, treatment and healing in individual, marital and family therapy. It utilizes techniques and theory that help individuals gain clear insight about their identities and perspectives on relationships as well as giving the therapist a cadre of intervention techniques that move individuals into responsible change of persistent and long standing patterns.

Coming from a tradition of Contextual Family Therapy, the RT approach provides the therapist with clarity of assessment of individual and relational issues yet utilizes sound mindfulness strategies to produce real and long-lasting systemic change.

What you can expect from me

In a first setting, obviously, I am required to push through the responsible details that appropriately establish a healthy therapeutic relationship. However, the main person in the room is my client. Therefore, I listen.

I allow the Client to take the mic. I believe the therapy room should be a safe place for the Client to do and say the things they might not have the safety to do in the world outside the counseling office. So, again, I listen.

In the end, we establish a working schedule and then, look forward to the next session.
