Great to meet you!

Hi there! My name is Alexa Sauro, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor passionate about helping clients through anxiety, attachment, and relationship issues, as well as LGBTQIA+ issues in adolescents and young adults. I have cultivated clinical experience in various settings with many populations, including a college crisis center, emergency foster care, and psychiatric residential centers, before landing in private practice.

My approach to therapy

I subscribe to psychodynamic theories, alongside interventions of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Expressive Arts to elicit change. I practice using a person-centered lens, aiming to approach each client with non-judgmental curiosity to create a customized treatment that works for you (it is your treatment after all!).

What you can expect from me

Therapy should be a space where you feel accepted and safe to be authentically you! Since the healing journey is tied to environmental, political, social, and economic factors- I feel it is a therapist's responsibility to hold each client within the larger context of their lived experiences. I firmly believe in everyone’s unique capacity for growth and healing, and aim to create warm therapeutic relationships grounded in collaboration and empowerment.
