Great to meet you!

Hello! I'm Dr. Alexander Erickson and I'm a clinical psychologist with specialty training in behavioral sleep medicine (ex. insomnia) and geropsychology (e.g., older adults and aging). In regard to behavioral sleep medicine, I am a board-certified Diplomate of Behavioral Sleep Medicine (DBSM) through the Board of Behavioral Sleep Medicine. I serve adult patients, with extensive experience and training serving older adults, clients with sleep and other co-occuring heath conditions, and veterans. I'm passionate about providing services to help you live a healthy and meaningful life. Not sleeping well? Coping with new diagnoses or chronic illness? Navigating life transitions or losses? Just trying to live and age well? I may be the therapist for you!

My approach to therapy

There can be many things that impede us from living a life that's consistent with our values and meaningful to us. I strive to provide a warm, curious, and safe environment for us to navigate these things together. The therapies I provide are backed by scientific evidence while also being tailored to you. I specialize in health-focused treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, Chronic Pain, and other health areas, along with other mental health-focused evidence-based treatments. As a clinical geropsychologist, I also have specialty training and experience serving older adults in particular, including those experiencing age-related life transitions like retirement, medical conditions, or cognitive changes such as those associated with dementia.

What you can expect from me

In therapy, we will be partaking in a meaningful and personal expedition, and your goals and values are our compass. As with any expedition, our sessions will involve exploring and making discoveries regarding the challenges you're dealing with. Where different paths may lead you away from what you want in life, we will work together to find the best path for you and your goals, whether it be through changing behavior, practicing skills related to thoughts or emotions, or other strategies. As we navigate our treatment adventure, we'll monitor our process and progress in a variety of ways to make sure our path is getting you where you want to be! By the end of our treatment together, I strive for clients to leave not only in achieving their goals, but having a wealth of discoveries, skills, and insights they gained along the way.
