Great to meet you!

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed or unsure how to move forward? You're not alone, and finding the right support can make all the difference. I’m Dr. Alex Kohl, and I’ve spent over a decade helping people like you navigate life’s challenges and create meaningful change. With a PhD in clinical psychology and a specialization in neuropsychology, I combine expertise with a compassionate, down-to-earth approach to therapy. I believe that therapy is about more than just addressing symptoms—it's about understanding the whole person. Together, we will explore your unique experiences, set realistic goals, and work toward the future you.

My flexible, neurodiversity informed, integrative approach draws on the biopsychosocial model, which means I consider how your biology, psychology, and social environment interact to impact your mental health. Using evidence-based techniques and a range of therapeutic modalities, I’ll ensure your treatment is as effective and individualized as possible.

Most importantly, I strive to create a warm, welcoming space where you feel safe, heard, and understood. Finding a therapist you connect with is one of the most important parts of this journey, and I’d be honored to be part of yours. If you’re ready to take the first step, let’s start this process together.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and individualized. I believe effective treatment begins with understanding the whole person, not just their symptoms, and creating a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard and empowered. Using a neurodiversity-informed, biopsychosocial framework, I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centered therapy, mindfulness, and family systems principles to meet each client's unique needs. My goal is to help clients build insight, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, clients can expect a relaxed, conversational environment where we begin getting to know one another. I'll take time to understand your concerns, personal history, strengths, and goals while answering any questions you have about the therapy process. Together, we'll identify what you'd like to achieve and develop an initial plan tailored to your unique needs. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the work we'll do together.
