Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm Dr. Alexander Macdonald, a clinical social worker with 25 years of experience, including 20 years of service in the U.S. Air Force and the past 5 years in private practice. I hold an LMSW and a PhD in Social Work. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), working with individuals and couples to address anxiety, depression, phase-of-life transitions, and challenges related to belonging and connection. My goal is to create a supportive, collaborative space where clients feel understood and empowered to grow.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, personable, and solution-focused. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies to help individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. Together, we explore the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that shape your experiences, and I provide practical tools to help you apply these insights in meaningful, lasting ways. My goal is to support your growth with professionalism, compassion, and a clear path toward positive change.

What you can expect from me

Clients who work with me can expect a warm, respectful, and professional environment where they feel genuinely heard and supported. Through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we work together to uncover meaningful insights about themselves and the world around them. My solution-focused approach helps clients not only understand the “why” behind their thoughts and behaviors, but also equips them with practical tools to make lasting, positive changes. Whether navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or issues of connection and belonging, clients leave our sessions with greater clarity, confidence, and direction in the life they want to live.
