Great to meet you!

I'm Alexandra Henry (Alex, for short), a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) practicing in Washington State. I started this practice for people who have spent a long time being told, or telling themselves, that what they've been through isn't bad enough to need support. If you're here, you deserve support and space. I specialize in trauma and work with adults who are feeling stuck and held back by past experiences. Many of the people I work with look like they have it all together on the outside but are quietly struggling with trust, self-worth, shame, or feeling out of control of their emotions. I believe every person I work with already has what they need to heal, and my job is to help them find it.

My approach to therapy

I draw primarily from cognitive behavioral therapy and am specifically trained in cognitive processing therapy (CPT), prolonged exposure (PE), and narrative exposure therapy (NET). My sessions are more structured and skills-focused than open-ended talk therapy, which means we are working toward real, measurable change rather than just processing out loud. I work through emotions by helping clients name them and make space to feel them, while also identifying beliefs about themselves and what happened to them that might be worth shifting. I tend to be warm and direct, and I will always be honest with you about what to expect and what the research says about what helps.

What you can expect from me

The first session is about getting to know each other and figuring out whether working together feels like a good fit. I will ask about what brought you in, what you have been struggling with, and what you are hoping therapy will help you change. Nothing moves faster than what you are ready for, and you are always in control of what we explore. I also want you to know from the start that you can ask questions at any point, move at your own pace, and tell me if something isn't working. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, not overwhelmed.
