Great to meet you!

I specialize in helping women navigate stress, trauma, and their relationship with their bodies. Many of the clients I work with are thoughtful, capable individuals who have spent years caring for others but feel disconnected from themselves. These patterns often develop as ways of coping with difficult experiences, and therapy can help you understand them while building healthier ways of responding. More information on my background and approach can be found via my website, www.alexperkinson.com.

My approach to therapy

I utilize evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, and EMDR, and also integrate creative arts therapy, mindfulness, body awareness techniques, yoga, and Tension Release Exercises (T.R.E.) for clients who benefit from connecting more fully with their bodies. I frequently collaborate with dietitians, physicians, and other healthcare providers to support integrated, trauma-informed care. Over time, my clients often experience reduced anxiety, a healthier relationship with food and their bodies, and a stronger sense of confidence and empowerment.

What you can expect from me

During an initial session, my primary goal is always to listen with empathy and compassion. From there, we will work to identify the issues that matter to you and establish meaningful and attainable goals and intentions to focus on in our work moving forward.
