Great to meet you!

Hi!

My name is Alexandra and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who provides therapy for a living. My approach to therapy is simple! Real conversation, in a safe space that honors who you are as a human being. My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, realistic, and empathetic. I am not a "how did that make you feel?" only, type of therapist. I will make you do homework and challenge you, respectfully. I will hold you accountable to the change you want to see... but I will also empower you by reminding you of your strengths, resilience, and ability to sustain change. You and I are a team! That means that I can only be a good therapist, if you are a part of the process.

My approach to therapy

Prior to doing private practice, I was an Adolescent Therapist, Assistant Clinical Director, Diversion & Human Trafficking Specialist/Coordinator, Family Care Manager, Dependency Care Manager, and Economic Self-Sufficiency Specialist. Within that time, I have worked with an array of families suffering from clinical issues related to chronic stress and anxiety, trauma (sexual), PTSD, substance use, ADHD/ADD/ODD, PANDAS, autism, eating disorders, mood disorders (Bipolar, Dysthymia), and personality disorders (Borderline, Histrionic).

What you can expect from me

I offer individual counseling, group counseling, consulting/training, and referral services for community support. Individual Therapy- One on one individual psychotherapy sessions to improve or control mental health symptoms that influence well-being. Couples Therapy- Marital or couples psychotherapy sessions to improve/manage mental health symptoms that influence interpersonal relations. Pre-marital counseling- Pre-marital counseling. A specialized form of couples therapy to improve romantic engagement and resolve interpersonal conflicts with anticipation of marriage. Parenting/Coaching- Therapeutic parental counseling that aims to provide caregiving knowledge, guidance, tools, and emotional support, without judgment/bias, to "burned out" parents. Family therapy- Family or group psychotherapy sessions to improve familial dynamics, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Business consulting/training- corporate training on specialized topics (trauma informed care, evidenced based treatment planning, human trafficking, evidenced based practices to improve business programs/company culture, etc). If your desire is to grow in a collaborative partnership that is committed to helping you make sense of life and it's challenges, Trutherapy may be a good fit for you.
