Great to meet you!

Life has a way of piling up until trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, relationship and family difficulties, substance use concerns, or a major life transition feel like more than you can carry alone. If that sounds familiar, I want you to know real change is possible. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with more than 18 years of experience helping adolescents, adults, and families work through difficult circumstances and move toward meaningful change. I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling from West Texas A&M University, with deep experience in trauma-informed care, substance use treatment, crisis intervention, and individual and family counseling. I'm trained in EMDR and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and I believe effective therapy starts with a genuine, trusting relationship where you feel safe being yourself. My goal is to help you feel heard, respected, and supported as we work together toward the life you want. If any of this resonates, I'd love to help you take the next step

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and practical. I believe clients benefit from having a therapist who will listen without judgment while also being willing to ask meaningful questions, offer a different perspective, and gently challenge patterns that may be keeping them stuck.

I use a trauma-informed approach and draw from evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral strategies, EMDR, and other interventions based on each client's individual needs and goals. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I work to understand each person's experiences, strengths, relationships, and circumstances.

I also believe therapy should provide tools that are useful outside of the therapy room. Together, we can work on understanding the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; developing healthier coping and communication skills; processing difficult experiences; and identifying realistic steps toward lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is primarily an opportunity for us to get to know one another. I want to understand what brought you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, what you would like to be different, and what you hope to gain from our work together.

You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what to say or where to begin. We will talk about your current concerns, relevant history, strengths, support system, and goals at a pace that feels comfortable. I will also answer questions about the therapy process and discuss how we might approach the concerns that brought you in.

Most importantly, I want you to leave the first session feeling heard and with a clearer sense of what we can work on together. Building a strong therapeutic relationship takes time, and my goal from the beginning is to create an environment that feels genuine, comfortable, respectful, and free of judgment.
