Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Alicia Funes, a bilingual psychotherapist based in Virginia with eleven years of experience supporting individuals on their mental health journeys. I hold a Bachelor’s in Social Work from New Mexico State University and a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Via assisting individuals across the lifespan in diverse settings, including inpatient and outpatient care, home-based counseling, residential treatment centers, hospitals, private practice, and schools. These roles inform my therapeutic approach and enable me to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Specialized in supporting individuals with bipolar disorder, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and life transitions. I prioritize listening to your needs and respecting your individuality. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts and feelings, identify patterns, and develop strategies to help you achieve a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Beginning therapy, whether for the first time or not, is a courageous and compassionate decision. Thank you for prioritizing your mental, spiritual, and physical well-being. I look forward to meeting you and supporting your journey toward self-discovery and contentment!

My approach to therapy

Utilizing a mind-body-spirit approach, my practice is informed by various modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Expressive Arts.

What you can expect from me

The goal of the first session is to address any thoughts or anxieties you may have about therapy, to understand what the therapeutic process entails, and to discuss your current life challenge and unique situation.
