Great to meet you!

*Please Note! You can work with me from the comfort of your own home by using teletherapy (some restrictions apply). If your insurance company has credentialed me (see insurance company listing in this profile), then they will cover you the same as for an office visit. This can be helpful, and/or necessary for so many people. I am licensed to serve clients throughout Louisiana, North Dakota and Texas. It's important for you to know, that my name may not appear in the "Find-a-provider" search through your insurance company. Don't worry. Most insurance companies tend to list a provider in only one zip code for each state even though I am credentialed for all zip codes within any contracted insurance company's coverage area.

About Me:

My 30 years in social work have allowed me the privilege to work with people during times for them of great hardship, trauma, loss, grief and in transitions of self, circumstances, death and life. I've done this in hospitals, partial hospitalization programs, clinics, government agencies and private practice. I've got a special place in my heart for folks in rural country areas and am grateful that telehealth can help in allowing them access to services. As it also helps those with physical mobility issues and/or difficulty accessing transportation.

I'm a proud social worker by training. I hold a bachelor of science with a double major in psychology and social work along with my Masters of Social Work (MSW). To become a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), I completed two years post-masters under professional supervision and now keep my knowledge current with 20 education hours every year.

You can reach out to me for a discovery call. It's about 15 minutes of time for us to see if we are a right fit together for a therapeutic alliance.

My approach to therapy

The therapeutic relationship between a client and therapist is time-limited and focused on you and your situation. My starting point is to be fully open to understanding you and the situation in which you find yourself. That situation could be current experiences or something that happened in the past which continues to affect the way in which you interact with your world today. The gauge by which we see progress in therapy is the degree to which you can be relieved of the stress that caused you to seek therapy in the first place. This will become clear as we work together. We’ll establish a plan of action and pull in resources to help you get to that better space. So, as you can see – the specific therapeutic approach depends on the uniqueness of you and your situation. We’ll talk about it as we go along. Sometimes, there is homework. It could be something like using calming techniques or taking steps to advocate for yourself.

What you can expect from me

You can expect a lot of me listening to you along with a fair amount of questions to help me better understand. At the same time, there is plenty of time for you to ask questions. I realize that in today’s sound-bite world, this openness can be uncomfortable at first for some. We can address this within the therapeutic relationship as well. The first session is a slow first step upon which we’ll ease into a plan, then into action, then get to a point of appreciation for the change that you so deserve.

*Please Note!

As a professional social worker I am licensed with the licensing board in each state in which I practice. The reason for this is to ensure that I have in place everything I need to have accomplished in order for me to fulfill the role of a professional in your care. As part of this assurance to the public, that quality, professional services will be delivered, you have the right to file a professional complaint investigation about my services to you through my social work licensing boards:
