Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Alison Kelly, PsyD, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Florida and Illinois. I am the founder of Calm and Connected Mental Health services. I earned my Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Adler University in Chicago and completed my APA-accredited internship at the Mental Health Center of Florida, followed by postdoctoral training through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

I specialize in working with adolescents (14+) and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, trauma-related concerns, chronic pain and illness, women’s health concerns, sleep difficulties and insomnia, relationship challenges, academic stress, and life transitions.

My approach to therapy is thoughtful, collaborative, and individualized. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you can feel understood and explore your experiences openly and without judgment. Together, we’ll work to better understand what you’re going through, build practical coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change. I draw from evidence-based approaches while tailoring treatment to your unique experiences, strengths, needs, and goals.

My approach to therapy

My work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions. I tend to take a mind and body approach by recognizing that the pair are very well interconnected and emotional stress often shows itself through the body. But more importantly, I believe the therapeutic experience should be tailored and adjusted to each person’s individual needs and strengths.

At the core of my approach is the belief that we are human first. Every person brings unique identities, values, cultures, and lived experiences into therapy, and those differences matter. I believe therapy is most effective when it honors each individual’s story and creates a place where you feel respected, understood, and empowered.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation for our work together. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, your goals, and relevant medical and mental health history.

This time also allows you to ask any questions about the therapy process and get a sense of whether the space feels comfortable and like a good fit for your needs.
