Alison Smith

I am a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) from Memphis, TN. I work with school-aged children, adolescents, and adults who are seeking to improve their quality of life by addressing their mental health needs. I care for patients dealing with a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and more. Over the last decade I have worked in a variety of settings as a nurse including experience in Intensive Care Units (ICU), Regional One Health’s Burn Center, and Post-Anesthesia Care Units (PACU). Throughout my career as a nurse, I have seen firsthand how mental health (or illness) permeates all life’s twists and turns. I have extensive experience using motivational interviewing techniques to help my patients set and reach goals we set together.

I believe in a shared decision-making approach when it comes to healthcare and seek to empower my patients through education. My treatment approach is holistic, utilizing evidence based-practices including medication management, alternative-medicine modalities and talk therapy.
