Great to meet you!

My passion lies in supporting children, teens, and young adults navigate through daily life stressors via a collaborative and supportive therapeutic environment. I have an extensive background in working with individuals who feel overwhelmed or defined by their life stories, those navigating trauma, and individuals experiencing relationship issues, mood disorders, anxiety, and/or depression. When I am not counseling or doing assessments, you can catch me reading, journaling, listening to music, swimming, traveling/ visiting sanctuaries/endangered animals, and/or spending time with family and friends.

My approach to therapy

With over 23 years in the field and a Master’s in both Education and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I bring a deep understanding of child development, family dynamics, and various strategies to assist in enhancing social, academic, and emotional well-being. As a former Exceptional Ed teacher, I recognize and understand attentional and behavioral issues, anxiety, and underlying trauma. Therapy should feel like a safe space, where you can be your true self and feel heard and understood. My style is warm, supportive, empathetic, and humorous when appropriate; I am open-minded.

What you can expect from me

"People like to put you in a box. I've always been the wrong shape." There aren’t many expectations during initial session, other than showing up as yourself. You know yourself better than anyone. My role is to help you identify patterns in thought, behaviors, situations, etc. that are unhealthy or preventing you from achieving your goals. You don’t need to have all the right words or know exactly what you want to work on. It’s about getting acquainted, understanding your background and concerns, discussing what you hope to gain from therapy, and making sure we feel like a good fit for one another. From there, we’ll collaborate to create a personalized plan that supports the life you want to build.
