Great to meet you!

I’m probably not like any therapist you’ve seen before. I’m interested in action. I believe trauma and past experiences live in your body, not just in your head. We can talk if you want to, but I’d rather our sessions be both deep and productive for you. I like doing deep work. That’s why I use psychodrama, one of the oldest modalities in the field.

I’m Alla Folsom, a Certified Sex Therapist (MSTI), Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and National Certified Counselor in Jacksonville, Florida. I see individuals online. I’m a doctoral student in Clinical Sexology at the Modern Sex Therapy Institute. I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University, and I also hold master’s-level degrees in theater and psychology.

I’ve worked in the helping field internationally for over 15 years. I’ve worked in private practice, in hospital inpatient and outpatient programs, and with survivors of sexual assault. I was born in Siberia; I’ve written four self-help books, and I ran a YouTube channel focused on empowering women.

Clients often come to me for:

  • Individual therapy: depression, anxiety, life transitions, lack of motivation, menopause-related changes, and sexual identity
  • Couples therapy: mismatched libido, sexless marriages, and losing attraction to each other
  • Trauma: reconnecting with your body and a sense of safety
  • Identity: gender, sexuality, kink, and non-monogamy
  • Personal growth: self-worth, life transitions, and finding your spark again

I enjoy working with high achievers, LGBTQIA+ clients, neurodivergent clients, and people in non-monogamous relationships. I’m a bilingual, Russian-speaking therapist and offer sessions in English and Russian.

My approach to therapy

If traditional talk therapy hasn’t worked for you before, let’s try something new. My approach is 100% integrative. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all. I’m humanistic and very personalized, and every approach I use is chosen for you and the problems you bring.

I combine psychodrama, expressive arts, and other experiential techniques with proven methods like CBT, DBT, CPT, SFBT, Motivational Interviewing, and MBSR. As a sex therapist and couples therapist, I help people reconnect with their bodies, their desire, and each other. I’m warm and direct, and I focus on results.

Most of the time, clients choose me after years in talk therapy because they need a different approach.

What you can expect from me

You can expect a warm, non-judgmental, and welcoming space. It doesn’t matter what walk of life you come from. I welcome all experiences.

Being a sex therapist taught me there is nothing to be ashamed of. The way to go deep and overcome what’s in your way is to work without judgment. We’ll sit together, and we’ll cry if we need to. We’ll sing if we need to, and we’ll act if we need to. From the first session, the work is shaped around you.

I’m not for everybody. Before you book, check in with yourself: are you ready for something you haven’t experienced before? Are you ready to do deep work? It’s okay if you aren’t. It’s okay to say no to something unfamiliar.

But if your answer is yes, I’m here for you. Let’s start this journey together, toward giving yourself permission to be unapologetically yourself.
