Great to meet you!
I specialize in working with people who are holding two worlds at once; those who grew up between cultures, carry the weight of family expectations across borders, or are writing their own definition of what it means to belong. Whether you're the child of immigrants, a first-generation American, or someone navigating life as part of the African, Caribbean, Hispanic diaspora or Asian, you may know the quiet exhaustion of code-switching, the guilt of wanting something different, or the loneliness of feeling like you're "too much" for one world and "not enough" for another. That's exactly the space I work in. My clients come to me because they want a therapist who doesn't need a roadmap to understand their story; someone who can hold both the complexity and the richness of where they come from.
I was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, and I came to the United States as an international student. I know firsthand what it means to build a life in a new country; the excitement, the disorientation, and the ongoing work of figuring out who you are when your roots are in one place and your life is unfolding in another. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communication from the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University in Minnesota, and my Master of Science in Education with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling from Saint John's University in New York. I have been practicing as a counselor since 2015. I bring both professional training and lived experience to this work, and I believe that matters.
