Great to meet you!

Hello! I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) based in Chicago, IL. I have my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National Louis University. I have a lot of experience in the community mental health space and crisis intervention, counselor supervision and training in addition to providing psychotherapy. I have a strong background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), experiential and talk therapy. I'm Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed as well as currently seeking certifications in trauma work. I have worked with folks experiencing anxiety, depression, severe mental illness, self-esteem issues, and phase-of-life difficulties.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My style of therapy is warm and inquisitive; I prefer to hear your story and what you believe you need from therapy first, then help map the ways for you to get there. If symptoms are a barrier, we'll begin with symptom management then work towards deeper healing or other goals you have.

I believe we have what we need inside ourselves for healing, even if it's deep and temporarily hidden away. This means I'm not the sort of therapist who will give advice or tell you what to do. I'll be more directive in of matters of harm and/or risk behaviors, but otherwise I help you find the meaning behind your behaviors and decisions.

What you can expect from our first session

I think this varies from person to person, but some common outcomes I've heard are processing questions asked in session, ability to withstand intense or uncomfortable emotions more regularly, effective communication skills and an overall better and compassionate understanding of self.
