Great to meet you!

Allison is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida with specialized experience in play-based therapy, high-risk child and family interventions, and trauma-focused care. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and holds a certificate in play therapy, among other evidence-based modalities.

Allison is dedicated to supporting children and families, recognizing the challenges young individuals face when managing complex emotions. She emphasizes the importance of active parent involvement in the therapeutic process, viewing it as a critical component in achieving meaningful and lasting outcomes.

My approach to therapy

Allison employs an eclectic, client-centered approach to therapy, integrating multiple evidence-based modalities to meet the unique needs of each individual. Through a thoughtful and creative process, she designs each session to support the child’s progress toward their therapeutic goals. She recognizes play as the language of children and incorporates it as a central component of the therapeutic process.

What you can expect from me

During the initial session, you will be asked to discuss the concerns that have brought you and your child to therapy. Sharing relevant information about your child’s developmental history and any experiences of trauma is helpful in developing a comprehensive understanding of their needs. You should also be prepared to discuss your child’s strengths and challenges, as well as those of your family as a whole.

For the first follow-up session, please be prepared to provide a brief update on your child’s progress. This session will incorporate play-based interventions designed to support your child’s engagement in therapy. While it may appear that your child is “just playing,” these activities are intentionally structured to help process their thoughts and emotions. At the conclusion of each session, you will be invited to rejoin for a summary of skills learned and recommendations for continued support at home.
