Great to meet you!

I'm Allison Prine, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist based in the San Francisco Bay Area and offering virtual sessions throughout California. My journey into therapy was deeply influenced by my personal experiences as a mother and my professional work with parents navigating the complexities of family life. I specialize in supporting individuals and couples through various stages of parenthood—from family planning and coping with infertility or pregnancy loss to adjusting to new parenthood and the evolving challenges that come with each stage of family life.

My educational background includes a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Palo Alto University and a Bachelor's in Neuroscience & Behavior from UC Santa Cruz. Additionally, I'm a Certified Lactation Educator Counselor through UC San Diego. I engage in ongoing professional development, with training in areas such as perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, grief and loss, and identity development in parenthood.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I believe that healing in therapy occurs within the safety of an authentic, present, and trusting relationship between client and therapist. My approach is collaborative and dynamic, tailored to each individual's unique needs and feedback. I strive to create a space where clients feel seen and held without judgment, supporting them in exploring their values, developing insight, practicing unconditional self-acceptance, and nurturing self-advocacy. I also emphasize the importance of translating our work into meaningful and tangible changes in clients' lives.

What you can expect from our first session

Clients can expect a therapeutic environment that values authenticity, presence, and vulnerability. I aim to provide a safe space where asking for support is seen as a strength. Through our work together, clients will have the opportunity to explore their stories, gain deeper self-understanding, and develop tools to navigate the complexities of parenthood and personal growth. I strive to make therapy accessible and flexible, meeting clients where they are to support their journey toward thriving in all aspects of life.
