Great to meet you!

The world we live in, both external and internal, can at times seem impossible to navigate. How does one navigate life stressors, past trauma, depression, and/or anxiety, especially if coping tools were not necessarily modeled to us growing up? I can help provide support and be a guide through your mental health journey.

In 2010, I graduated from Argosy University Atlanta with a master’s degree in Community Counseling. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I have worked with individuals of all ages in various settings such as a child advocacy center, in-home therapy, psychiatric hospital, private practice, and on a military base. I currently work in managed care, in addition to seeing clients for individual therapy. I primarily work with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, LGBTQ+, and women's issues.

My approach to therapy

I strive to provide a safe, open, and accepting environment for my clients. I fall somewhere between directive and non-directive in my approach, meaning I believe psychoeducation is just as important as processing one's thoughts, feelings, and life situations. I've found that many of us were not taught or modeled what healthy expression of emotions and communication with others looks like. Therefore, I find learning about our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can be just as important as talking about them. I combine therapeutic approaches such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Person Centered Therapy, and other modalities to meet my clients where they are at and with what they need.

What you can expect from me

The first session is spent orienting you to the counseling process, reviewing confidentiality and what I like to call "housekeeping items," and then getting into what brings you to counseling, the "intake" process. I like to get background information, current symptoms or problems, and what you want to work on in counseling.
