Great to meet you!

I'm Dr. Allycen Kurup, a licensed clinical psychologist based in Tacoma and licensed to practice virtually across Washington State. I specialize in LGBTQIA+-affirming care, transgender issues, trauma, and stress management, and I work with individuals and families. I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychological Science from Purdue University and have trained specifically in gender health and LGBTQ+-focused clinical settings. My passion is being a fierce guide and advocate for LGBTQ+ clients, but that is not solely what we need to focus on. I aim to provide an affirming space where LGBTQ+ folks feel inherently understood and can work on any issue.

My approach to therapy

My approach blends CBT, ACT, DBT, and trauma-focused therapy in a space that's warm, curious, and strength-based. I ask a lot of thoughtful questions to help you think in new ways about your strengths, challenges, and the direction you want your life to go.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about us getting to know each other. I'll ask about what's bringing you in, your strengths, and what support has (and hasn't) worked before, and we'll talk openly about whether we're a good fit. There's no pressure — just an honest conversation about how I can help.
