Great to meet you!

My approach to therapy is both person centered work and creative arts therapy. Based on this belief, the client is the expert on their own life utilizing their own unique experiences, perspectives, and goals and has the inherent ability to solve their problems and achieve their full potential. Utilizing strength based talk therapy, creative arts therapy, I incorporate drama, art, creative writing, movement, music, poetry, story-work and role plays to help clients express and:

  • Make sense of their experiences
  • Find new ways to look at problems
  • Name and express their feelings
  • Find new ways to connect with people and find healthy and clear ways to communicate
  • Work through past traumas and develop safe coping tools
  • Set healthy boundaries
  • Find coping tools to decrease anxiety and set healthy boundaries
  • Creative interventions to increase self esteem

Creative arts therapy is a therapeutic practice that uses art to help people with mental, emotional, and physical health. It can also help people cope with trauma or illness. People of all ages can benefit from creative arts therapy and can help people who experience illness, trauma, or challenges in living

Creative arts therapists are trained in psychotherapy and in specific arts disciplines

They work with people in a variety of settings, including hospitals, day centers, and private practices

Modalities include: dance/movement therapy, drama therapy, music therapy, poetry therapy, and art therapy, and creative writing and journaling.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a therapist who will foster a safe space to be able to share their thoughts, feelings, and events at their own pace. As a therapist I believe in walking the path with the client as they gain insight and self-reflect on their progress. Clients can also expect a creative environment with interventions that help the client to express their thoughts and feelings on a deeper level through art, drama, movement, music and creative writing and journaling.

Sessions will provide:

  • Active listening: Paying close attention to what they are saying, both verbally and nonverbally.
  • Empathy and understanding: Demonstrating genuine care and concern for their experiences.
  • Non-judgment in a safe space: Accepting their thoughts and feelings without criticism.
  • Collaboration: Working with them to set goals and develop strategies for change.
  • Creative interventions that are fun, expressive, calming and insightful.
  • Confidentiality: Protecting their privacy and not sharing personal information with others.
