Great to meet you!

My name is Alva Robinson, and I created Healing Beyond Words as a place where children, teens, and families can breathe, settle, and feel seen. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the quiet spaces where people’s real stories live — the places beneath the surface where emotions, experiences, and unspoken needs shape how we move through the world.

My path into this work has been shaped by both professional training and lived experience. I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Science and Administration, and I’ve spent years supporting young people and families in schools, community settings, and private practice. Over time, I’ve learned that healing rarely happens through pressure or perfection — it happens through presence, safety, and connection.

My approach to therapy

In my practice, I use a child‐centered and client‐centered approach, which means I follow the child’s lead and honor their pace. Children and teens often communicate through play, creativity, movement, and subtle cues long before they have the words to explain what they feel. My role is to create a space where those expressions are welcomed, understood, and supported.

I also work closely with parents and caregivers, because healing doesn’t happen in isolation. Families deserve guidance, clarity, and a partner who can help them navigate the emotional terrain of raising a child who is struggling. I offer coaching, insight, and steady support so caregivers feel empowered, not overwhelmed.

My areas of focus include:

  • Anxiety, worry, and stress in children and teens
  • Emotional regulation and navigating big feelings
  • Trauma‐informed care and recovery from difficult experiences
  • Mother–daughter relationship dynamics
  • Self‐esteem, identity development, and confidence building
  • School challenges, transitions, and social concerns
  • Parent coaching and caregiver support
  • Grief, loss, and major life changes

What you can expect from me

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: every child deserves a space where they feel safe enough to be themselves, and every parent deserves support as they walk alongside them. Healing Beyond Words is that space — a place where growth is nurtured gently, where emotions are honored, and where families can find their way forward with more clarity and connection.
