Great to meet you!

“Sometimes I’ll start a sentence and I don’t even know where it’s going.” (Michael Scott) Hi! My name is Alyssa (she/her), and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I attended the CUNY College of Staten Island and received my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have been working in this field since 2019 and completed my internship working with Children of Substance Abusers, as well as their caregivers. From there, I worked in two private mental health practices, working with children, teens, and young adults in a variety of areas/modalities.

I conduct sessions with children, teens, young adults, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have experience working with clients who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism, Depression, Anxiety, Social Anxiety, School-Related Anxiety, Grief/Loss, Anger, Relationship Conflicts, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Day-to-Day Life Stressors.

My approach to therapy

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques including Socratic questioning, unconditional positive regard, person centered approaches, cost-benefits analysis, and feminist theories. I also utilize humor in sessions and bring my full, authentic self to each session with clients. I am a passionate advocate about doing what is best for my clients and an advocate for social justice. Together we will utilize these techniques so you can create the life you want, learn new skills, make the tough decisions, and have a shoulder to lean on through it all.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we will get to know each other. You don't know me and you may not feel comfortable opening up right away, and that's okay! I want you to feel comfortable with me, so our first session can be about anything you want it to be! At the end of our first session, we will discuss goals that you have for our time together.
