Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Alyssa and I look forward to meeting you! I am a very flexible and laid back person and am here to help you with whatever it is you are struggling with. There will be no judgment and we will work on what only you want to work on.

I have worked in the mental health and substance abuse field for 20+ years. Areas I specialize include anxiety, depression, childhood sexual abuse, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, childhood trauma, cutting and self-harm, grief and loss, domestic violence, Emotional Intensity Disorder, addiction, stress management, Dissociative Identity Disorder, eating disorders, and chronic mental illness.

My approach to therapy

I believe there is no magic answer to everything and not everything works for everybody, so I approach things like it is you and I trying to figure out what works best for you. I do not have one specific approach or theory I use for every client I see. I just utilize the resources I have and approach things as a partnership between the two of us; trying to figure out what is going to work best for you and your personal situation.

I utilize a variety of different techniques in my therapy sessions including cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness, STEPPS training, journaling, cognitive behavioral strategies, reading, and additional items to work on in between sessions if desired.

What you can expect from me

The first session with me usually involves us talking more about you and your situation, what you are struggling with, gathering some background information on you, answering any questions you may have, talking about my approaches to counseling and how we can work best together to figure out things to get you feeling better!
