Great to meet you!

Hi! I’m Alyssa Miller, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in psychiatric evaluation and medication management for children, adolescents, and young adults. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care with a holistic approach that considers emotional, behavioral, developmental, school, and family-related factors.

I have experience supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, autism spectrum disorder, mood disorders, and emotional/behavioral challenges.

My approach to therapy

My practice focuses primarily on psychiatric evaluations and medication management. During medication follow-up appointments, I also incorporate brief supportive therapy, psychoeducation, coping strategies, behavioral interventions, and parent guidance as clinically appropriate.

I strive to create a supportive, collaborative environment where patients and families feel heard and understood. My goal is to help children, teens, and young adults improve daily functioning, emotional wellbeing, confidence, and overall quality of life through individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs.

I offer both in person and telehealth appointments throughout New Jersey with evening and weekend availability.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is a comprehensive evaluation.

Many clients come in feeling nervous or unsure of what to expect. My goal is to create a calm, welcoming space where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns at your own pace.

During this session, we will:

🌿 Take time to understand the full picture We’ll discuss current concerns, symptoms, stressors, and goals. I’ll ask about developmental history (for children), school or work functioning, medical history, sleep, family background, and any prior therapy or medication experiences.

🌿 Clarify what’s working — and what isn’t We’ll review strengths as well as challenges. Understanding resilience factors is just as important as understanding symptoms.

🌿 Discuss possible diagnoses (if appropriate) I’ll explain my clinical impressions in clear, straightforward language. There are no surprises — this is a collaborative process.

🌿 Develop an initial treatment plan This may include therapy recommendations, lifestyle strategies, and/or medication options when appropriate. If medication is discussed, we’ll review risks, benefits, and alternatives so you feel informed and empowered in your decision-making.
