Great to meet you!

Life is busy, and we often put off taking care of ourselves. Thank you for making your mental health a priority!

I am Amanda Culp-Roche, a dual-board certified nurse practitioner (family practice and psychiatric mental health), licensed in North Carolina and Kentucky. I received my Master's and PhD degrees from the University of Kentucky. I have over 16 years of medication management experience treating mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. I love helping individuals reach and maintain their highest quality of life, satisfaction, function, and contentment.

My approach to therapy

Individuals who want and/or need a medication provider who listens with empathy and is aware of how mental health can impact decisions, relationships, and participation in life will be well-served with me as their psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Active participation is important to reaching mental health treatment goals, and I will encourage individuals to learn about their diagnosis, seek out information about treatment options, and ask questions! I am comfortable treating individuals with many types of depression, anxiety, substance misuse, ADHD, and bipolar disorders with medication and suggestions for alternative therapies, and I urge individuals to engage in supportive counseling and/or therapy.

What you can expect from me

Session will focus on building a partnership. I want to hear your story- what you are able/willing to share with me. I will establish what treatments have been tried and what worked or did not work and if there are other factors that need to be considered before prescribing a treatment, such as medical conditions and medications. I use open communication so you know what you expect from me as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, and I will share what I expect from our working relationship. Once we establish the foundation, we will start to build a treatment plan together that is acceptable to your goals and current life circumstances.
