Great to meet you!

My name is Amanda, and when I started out in the world of counseling 12 years ago, I was even skeptical of the benefits of therapy. It seemed too “simple” to help some of life’s greatest challenges. I am here to tell you that it really works once you have found the right counselor. So, here is a little about me to help you make that decision. I have been described as outgoing, approachable, non-judgmental, and down-to-earth. I love working with adolescents and teenagers through the endless changes and choices, but also love working with adults who can’t seem to answer questions like, “Why does this always happen to me?"

My approach to therapy

Most of my experience is centered around depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship concerns, and codependency issues. I use a myriad of counseling techniques that are catered to each client, but some common techniques include Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Dialectical Behavioral, and Attachment Theory. I tend to be more direct and if the client is ready for it, I will challenge some of their thoughts and behaviors to encourage growth.

What you can expect from me

If you leave a session feeling like you just had a chance to unload life's struggles onto a trusted friend, I have completed part one of my job. I pride myself in being able to connect with people, and I think the key to my success is "being real". Counseling starts with a trusting relationship, and once that is established, the real work can begin.
