Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Brooke Keffner. I was born and raised at the NJ shore and have had the pleasure of working in several states throughout my career, including NJ, PA, FL, and IN. I am a licensed mental health counselor in both FL and IN, a nationally accredited board certified art therapist, a certified addiction professional in FL, and an internationally certified drug and alcohol counselor. I work with clients from adolescence through older adulthood and see individuals, couples, and families. My specialty lies in working with young adults or couples, 18-40, though I happily work outside that age range for clients who are the right fit. I have worked in a variety of treatment settings and levels of care in my career from inpatient hospitalization to residential care to partial hospitalization to intensive outpatient, to outpatient. I have extensive training and experience in substance use disorders, eating disorders, trauma, and couples work. I also have many years of experience in treating mood disorders, anxiety/panic, grief and loss, and life adjustments.

My approach to therapy

I use a variety of treatment modalities from traditional talk therapy, to art therapy, to mind-body approaches, to EMDR and more. My approach to therapy is very client centered and will depend on your preferences and needs. I have been described as an "outside the box" thinker and therapist. My goal is to help you find the right "recipe" for healing for you, and my therapeutic approach with each client I work with varies greatly because of this. Many of my clients express an interest in using a variety of approaches to address their therapeutic work from all angles. And some clients choose one specific approach that fits best for them. It is my belief that you are the guide and the expert on your life and that I can be there to help you take ownership of that while building upon your inherent strengths.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will consist mostly of beginning to get to know one another, building rapport, and making space for me to begin to understand your story and current needs. I prefer a warm, conversational approach and believe that the initial steps of beginning to build our therapeutic relationship are the most sacred. I believe that a sound and trusting partnership between us is necessary to help you make the most progress.
