Great to meet you!

You're good at "keeping it together" on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside. Maybe there's things from your past that still impact you and you're ready to move forward. Or you're great at supporting others but caring for yourself is a challenge. I love my work as a counselor and it's an honor to support others with increasing self-compassion and feeling more empowered. The work isn't always easy, and clients say it's worth it when they see noticeable change. I specialize in working with transitions, sexual trauma, anxiety, perfectionism, outdoor professionals, childhood sexual abuse, relational wounds and women's issues.

My approach to therapy

My style is warm, honestly compassionate, empowering, at times infused with humor and direct. I am EMDR certified and use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). These modalities support trauma reprocessing, coping and interpersonal skill development, values exploration, working with change and acknowledging our different parts.

What you can expect from me

Clients have shared feeling more in touch with their internal experiences, better able to handle challenges and anxiety, and being clearer about what they want after our sessions. I imagine having clients on an emotional belay; I keep my feet steadily planted on the ground to support client's exploration of challenging terrain. As with learning any new skill, we practice, give and receive feedback and pick manageable targets.
