Great to meet you!

Did you grow up hoping good things would come? Most do. However, as the life journey takes shape, unforeseen losses, disappointments and relational issues might create heaviness and a feeling of defeat. I have experienced hardships of my own and made the hard choice to overcome them. Sometimes we need a little help along the way to make ourselves spiritually fierce once again. Examining life challenges that caused us to trip can offer new perspectives, assisting in the healing process.

In my work, and especially with couples, I firmly believe that effective communication is vital to creating healthy relationships. Every relationship is co-created, I like to say, so when we take the time to understand and explore another's perspective, misinterpretation and misunderstanding lessens. My heart longs to help others find the confidence within themselves to create meaningful and trusting relationships. By learning to be confident in using their own voices and feeling more worth of self, there is potential for powerful positive change.

A bit about my approach to therapy

In my work, I use many different approaches depending on the needs of my clients. However, I try to help people using a psychodynamic approach to become aware of unconscious material that might awaken an understanding of present inner pain masking as symptoms. I offer a welcoming safe space and will walk alongside of you in your journey of self-discovery and healing. I work with people of all faith backgrounds and meet them where they are in their journey.

I graduated from the University of South Carolina, earning my B.A. in Theatre & Speech and obtained my M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. I am trained in EMDR and offer that approach when dealing with trauma. I'm also certified as a facilitator in Prepare/Enrich and enjoy working with premarital & marital couples. I worked in the entertainment industry for many years and have an eclectic theoretical framework.

What you can expect from our first session

Clients will be welcomed and made to feel unafraid of the therapeutic experience. My hope is that clients will feel heard, understood, and validated in their shared experiences, leaving therapy with a new lens or strategies to manage in a healthier way. I also hope clients will leave with more clarity when making hard decisions along the bumpy road of life.
