Great to meet you!

Hello! I'm Amanda Mullen, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Independent Social Worker–Clinical Practice (LISW-CP), and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-I), licensed in South Carolina and Illinois.

As a veteran and former military spouse, I'm especially passionate about supporting veterans, active-duty service members, first responders, and their families. While every person's experience is unique, I understand many of the challenges these communities face through both professional training and lived experience.

One philosophy that guides my work is simple: I don't preach—I teach. My role isn't to tell you how to live your life but to help you better understand yourself, build practical coping skills, and gain the confidence to navigate life's challenges long after therapy ends. I genuinely believe in the techniques I use because I've seen their ability to create lasting change.

I also believe healing extends beyond the therapy office. Spending time in nature, slowing down, and reconnecting with yourself can be powerful tools for growth and resilience, and I often encourage clients to incorporate these practices into their daily lives.

My greatest strength as a therapist is creating a space where you can show up exactly as you are. Whether you're healing from trauma, managing anxiety or depression, coping with work stress, navigating life transitions, or simply feeling overwhelmed by everyday life—even potty training a new puppy—you'll find a compassionate, supportive, and judgment-free environment. My goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and empowered as we work together toward meaningful, lasting change.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy starts with meeting you where you are. I believe that every client—and sometimes every session—has different needs, so I remain flexible and adapt my approach accordingly. Some sessions may follow a structured agenda with psychoeducation and skill-building, while others are more client-centered, focusing on the stressors or challenges that feel most important in the moment. Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all, and I tailor our work together to support your goals. Above all, this is your time and your space—a place where you can explore whatever feels heaviest, knowing you'll be met with compassion, curiosity, and without judgment.

What you can expect from me

During our first one or two sessions, we'll focus on getting to know one another and completing a comprehensive assessment. This is an opportunity for me to learn about your story, better understand what has brought you to therapy, and explore the goals you hope to achieve. It also gives us a chance to build a strong therapeutic relationship and create a plan that feels personalized to your needs and priorities.
