Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Amanda, and I'm a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. I am here to help people of all ages who struggle with stress, anxiety, relationship problems, depression, or just need someone to help reach their goals in life. I believe that everyone has the power to heal, move forward, and thrive, and I'm here to make sure you succeed on that journey.

Nursing was a second career for me; I spent over a decade as a veterinary technician before switching gears to humans and working as a transplant nurse. I found my passion in making connections with people as I cared for them, and realized that helping people with their mental health is my calling. I've worked in a busy outpatient psychiatry clinic where I treated patients from 5-98 struggling with issues such as schizophrenia, bipolar, personality disorders, ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, and behavioral disturbances. I've learned people need to feel safe, heard, and valued in order to develop trust, and I've met too many clients who have felt like voiceless numbers. My goal is to change that.

My approach to therapy

My approach to providing care is by listening to what you need and creating a treatment plan with you. I like to identify problems, set goals, and come up with strategies to help you meet those goals. I tend to try and incorporate cognitive behavioral strategies as much as possible, but sessions are also flexible and we can adjust depending on how you've been. If there's ever anything we start talking about that you're not comfortable with, just let me know and we'll change gears. No single therapeutic approach works best for everyone, so we'll work together to find what works best for you.

What you can expect from me

First off, I'm a bit strange and goofy, and I try to bring that vibe to work with me. Initially, you can expect for me to try to get to know you, understand what your life is like, identify your problems, and set some goals together. I like people to feel like they completely understand their diagnoses, medications, and the whole therapy process and I encourage you to speak up if you're ever confused or not 100% on board with the plan. I like to create treatment plans that include both therapy and medications or supplements. Mental health progress tends to go slow, so I celebrate small wins and baby steps and take a very goal-oriented approach to treatment.
