Great to meet you!

Seeking therapy takes courage, and I believe one of the most important parts of the process is finding someone with whom you feel comfortable and understood. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore life's challenges, build on your strengths, and move toward meaningful change.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW, LSCSW) and Board Certified Oncology Social Worker (OSW-C) with more than 20 years of experience providing therapy in healthcare and community settings. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Iowa.

My clinical specialty is working with individuals and families impacted by cancer and other serious medical conditions. I understand the emotional impact of diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, caregiving, grief, and uncertainty. In addition, I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, caregiver burnout, life transitions, relationship concerns, and adjustment to difficult life events. I use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based interventions, and strengths-based therapy, tailoring treatment to each person's unique needs and goals.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy is most effective when it feels like a true partnership. My approach is warm, collaborative, and compassionate, providing a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can openly explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Together, we'll identify what's most important to you, clarify your goals, and build practical coping strategies that help you navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience. Whether you're facing a recent diagnosis, processing grief or loss, managing stress, or feeling stuck, I'll meet you where you are and tailor our work to your unique needs. My goal is for you to leave therapy feeling supported, empowered, and equipped with tools that help you create a more balanced and fulfilling life.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my primary goal is to get to know you and understand what has brought you to therapy. We'll talk about your current concerns, relevant life experiences, your strengths, and what you hope to gain from our work together. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine whether I feel like a good fit for your needs.
