Great to meet you!

I completed my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. I am trained in EMDR and in the process of getting trained in brain spotting. I use many therapy theories in my practice depending on what the client is struggling with and how they show up that day. I use modalities ranging from EMDR to EFT, CBT, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, pieces of IFS, Gottman Method, and more.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is a very direct one. I tell clients that I am a good fit for someone who is ready to work on themselves and create change, even though that can be incredibly hard. I vary how my direct approach comes off, whether it's softer or more assertive, depending on the client's needs, but I believe saying the hard and uncomfortable things helps people get to a place of change faster. When warranted, I use EMDR with clients to help them get to a better place in less sessions than only talk therapy typically can.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, clients can expect to just have a conversation about what their struggling with and how they got to this point. I try to get as much of a client's history as they are comfortable sharing in the first session and understand what their goals look like. I always say I can't fully know a client in just one or even five sessions, but the more I know about the history of the problem, the more I can help understand and heal the core of it all.
